Caryn Louw is a registered professional golfer with both the South African Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association & the Ladies European Tour. Caryn is ranked amongst the top 3 in South African Ladies professional golf. After attending the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma USA where she represented America’s number 1 ranked college team, she returned to South Africa, turned professional in 1990 and joined the European Tour in 1991. She has been referred to as "the next Sally Little", but has only played 5 full seasons due to lack of financial backing. Since turning professional & during her relatively brief stint on tour, she has achieved some remarkable results.
"Sport has always been the central focus of my life but since being introduced to the game of golf at the age of 16, I moved from a 36 handicap to a 3 after only 11 months. When I realised my own potential and interest in the game, I decided that I really wanted to make a career in professional golf and with that, set my sights at reaching the top."
"I am sure that my story has been well presented in this document and need not be repeated but if I had to single out the highlights of my career so far, I would say that winning the 1996 Spanish Open on the European Ladies Tour & winning the NCAA Championship in the United States." |
